What do Simon Cowell, William Orbit, The Shapeshifters and CamelPhat have in common? They are amongst the slew of Dj artists and record labels, that have worked with London based club diva and singer/songwriter maven, Erire

SGO goes back a ways with Erire, all the way back to the 1990s dance trio 3 Man Island, Rozalla and the longest nights of Rave.

Erire’s new single is ‘Time To Shine’, co-written and produced by Tim Cox (one half of the Rozalla ‘Everybody’s Free’ writing and production team). ‘Time To Shine’ is the perfect celebration of a career stacked with club hits.

1999

Lúnasa (SGO publisher and manager) sign to Green Linnet (USA) in the largest ever deal done by that label in its 25-year history.

 

2000

“Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen)”,  sampling “Everybody’s Free” (Cox & Swanston), No.1 UK single.

2002

Lunasa’s 3rd album, “The Merry Sisters Of Fate”, named Album of the Year for 2001 in the American Independent Music Awards.

“Adore” & “Lift Me Up” written by Chris Eaton, co-published by SGO, both win BMI Airplay awards for US radio play.

 

2004

Cliff Richard album, “Something’s Goin’ On” #10 UK album. 3 Top 20 UK singles (Exec. Producers SGO/Valerie Jannsen).

Erire‘s #1 Dance hit with “Dusk Till Dawn” (co-written with Danny Howells).

2005

Eric Bibb (SGO publisher and manager) nominated for W.C.Handy Award by The Blues Foundation (USA).

 

2006

Eric Bibb’s “Diamond Days” which becomes the biggest selling album of his career. Billboard (USA) Blues charts and Australian Album charts.

2007

Erire’s #1 Dance hit with “SOS” (co-written with Stonebridge).

 

2008

Eric Bibb plays SXSW Music Festival, Jazz World Stage Glastonbury, Main Stage Cambridge.

SGO signs worldwide administration deal with world’s leading independent music publisher, Bug Music.

 

2009

Lexie Stobie signs to Decca Records after 18 months of development.

Bobby Long’s “Let Me Sign” is used in the film ‘Twilight’(#1 US Box Office).

2010

Bobby Long signs to ATO Records (USA) after 12 months of development.

Chris Eaton cracks Country music with a song on Keith Urban’s new album, ‘Get Closer’. Enters US Album chart at #7.

Eric Bibb’s new album, ‘Booker’s Guitar’ was #1 selling Blues album in the US week of March 3.

2011

BMG buys Bug Music and becomes SGO’s new global music publishing partner.

 

2012

The RTÉ Concert Orchestra join Lúnasa at the National Concert Hall, Dublin to perform the music of Lúnasa.

 

2013

Blair Dunlop wins the Horizon category at BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Vanessa Paradis’ track “Les Revenants”  licensed for Chanel’s worldwide online and in-store campaign.

2014

Lúnasa headline at 3 of the world’s major music festivals in a single week Cambridge (UK), Lorient (France), Edmonton (Canada).

Chris Eaton’s “1914 – The Carol of Christmas” is chosen as the Christmas single to support the UK’s 3 main armed forces charities.

 

2015

The Young’uns are named Best Group at 2015 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Blair Dunlop and The Young’uns win Spiral Earth Awards for Vocals and Live Act respectively.

Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker win Best Duo BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Bobby Long signs to Compass Records (USA) and releases ‘Ode To Thinking’ supported by a 50 date tour across USA and Europe.

 

2016

The Young’uns are named Best Group at 2016 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. The first time an act has won this award on successive years.

Blair Dunlop makes his debut Glastonbury Festival appearance and sees 2 singles from his latest album ‘Gilded’ playlisted on BBC Radio 2, the UK’s #1 station.

Pentangle‘s ‘Finale’ is released on Topic Records. Recordings taken from the final tour of the original line-up of this unique and legendary band – Terry Cox, Bert Jansch, Jacqui McShee, John Renbourn and Danny Thompson. 

Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker sign to Rough Trade.

Moxie and their music star in the new Irish dance and music spectacular ‘ProdiJIG: The Revolution’ opening with a 5 week run at Cork Opera House.


2017

Chris Eaton’s “Breath of Heaven” features in ‘The Star’ an animation using the voices of Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson and Oprah Winfrey.

Eric Bibb receives his 2nd Grammy nomination, this time in the Best Traditional Blues Album category for ‘Migration Blues’.

Cliff Richard’s million seller, “Mistletoe & Wine” gets the ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ treatment on BBC 1 Christmas Day broadcast.

 

2018

The Young’uns album ‘Strangers’ wins Best Recording at 2018 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Cliff Richard‘s “Devil Woman” (Christine Holmes/Terry Britten) features on the soundtrack of 2018 Oscar winning film, ‘I, Tonya’ starring Margot Robbie.

Chris Eaton’s “Breath of Heaven” on the soundtrack of the US Box Office hit film, ‘I Can Only Imagine’.

Lúnasa release ‘Cas’ their 8th studio album and their first with vocals – Natalie Merchant, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Eric Bibb and Tim O’Brien guest.

The Zombies are inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Chris Eaton has 3 songs including the single “Reborn” on Cliff Richard’s album, ‘Rise Up’.

 

2019

The Young’uns stage show ‘The Ballad Of Johnny Longstaff’ gets 4 & 5 star reviews in The Guardian, The Times and The Stage during a sell-out 3 week run at Northern Stage, Newcastle.

Calan and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales perform Calan’s music at St David’s Hall, Cardiff to celebrate St David’s Day

Kit Downes

The BBC Jazz Award winning, Mercury Music Award nominated, solo recording artist for ECM Records.

Kit Downes has toured the world playing piano, church organ and harmonium with his own bands (‘ENEMY’, ‘Troyka’ and ‘Elt’) as well as with artists such as Squarepusher, ‘Empirical’, Benny Greb and Sam Amidon. 

He has written commissions for Cheltenham Music Festival, London Contemporary Orchestra, Ensemble Klang at ReWire Festival, the Scottish Ensemble, Cologne Philharmonie and the Wellcome Trust.

Kit teaches at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he himself studied and now holds a Fellowship.

After releasing three albums, being nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Horizon Award twice, and performing at major festivals including The Cambridge Folk Festival, WOMAD and Glastonbury; Maz has spent three years writing and recording her latest album, ‘Chosen Daughter’, which explores the stories of her foremothers, and was released in late 2019.
